Small Packets

This service is more economical for shipping small articles.

Small Packet Features

  • Small articles can be sent at a lower rate than EMS (Express Mail Service) or Parcel Post.
  • The maximum weight for these packages is 2 kg.

  • Some countries accept small packets by economy air (SAL) in addition to airmail and surface mail.

Rates

If the article is small (no more than 2 kg), it is less expensive to send it as a small packet.

Bulk Service/Corporate Clients Service

If you are sending a large number of small packets, you can benefit from using the service below.

D-mail (priority bulk airmail)/P-mail (nonpriority bulk airmail)

This service has an attractive discount rate when 50 or more small packets are mailed at once.

Rolled items small in width are unacceptable.

Conditions/Precautions for Use

  1. Handling of small packets differs from international parcels in the following ways:
    • International parcel labels cannot be used.
    • A small packet is, like a letter or postcard, an ordinary postal item, therefore it cannot be sent registered. If registration is required, please use the optional registered mail/advice of receipt service.

  2. The words “Small Packet” (or “Petit Paquet”) should be written in the upper left corner of the address side of the packet (or below the name and address of the sender if applicable).
  3. The packet can be sent sealed or unsealed.
  4. To prepare the customs declaration form and transmit EAD, please use the International Mail My Page Service.
